Ohio State Coach makes his Island Impact at Beaches Turks & Caicos

After years of debates, voting and bureaucracy it finally happened – the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) decided to change the structure of college football championships by implementing a playoff system. No doubt, with such a huge change the winning team of the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship would have to work harder than they ever had before to secure their place in athletic history. Enter the Ohio State University Football team.

After gritty playoffs, Ohio State emerged victorious. A common question to champions is where they will go to celebrate their hard earned spoils. Well, for the National Champion’s running back coach, his decision was clear – he was taking his family on a well-deserved Luxury Included ® Family Vacation at Beaches Turks & Caicos! Coach Tony Alford along with his wife and three kids enjoyed the best of the best when it comes to Caribbean vacations. With 21 Gourmet Discovery Dining options, a 12-mile turquoise beach and an abundance of included and unlimited activities, the Alford family had more than enough to fill their time. What makes their trip memorable though, is that they chose to not only relax, but give back to the local Turks & Caicos community with some help from the Sandals Foundation!

In conjunction with the Sandals Foundation’s newly launched Island Impact program, Coach Alford and his sons hosted a basketball camp with local children and offered them inspirational words focusing on the benefits of teamwork. One of the specific features of the new program is the opportunity for students to earn community service hours while on vacation. As such, Coach Alford’s sons received Island Impact certificates for their efforts, which can be applied to their schools’ community service requirements.

Voluntourism is a trend that Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts and the Sandals Foundation are proud to stand behind and encourage all our guests to get involved! With the opportunity for students to earn up to 10 community service hours, this is an impact the entire family can get involved in. For more information and to book an Island Impact experience on your next Luxury Included® Family Vacation, go to www.beaches.com.
