TAPping into the Teen Experience at Beaches Resorts

June 23, 2015 - Beaches Resorts - Kids Activities & Programs

When you think about the reason behind a group of teens getting together for a week of activity at the Luxury Included® Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa, work may not be at the top of that list. And normally, you would be right, but we, of course have the exception!

Beaches Turks & Caicos hosted the first official meeting of the TAP panelists for a comprehensive site inspection and exclusive Beaches Resorts brand offerings. TAP members were also the first to participate in Island Impact, a new program with the Sandals Foundation that allows students to earn community service hours while on vacation, an initiative inspired by the members.

Chief Teen Officer Sabrina Stewart played hosted the teens during their visit – giving them a crash course in everything Beaches from rooms to restaurants and watersports to the Xbox Play Lounge. It wasn’t all fun and games for the panelists! Stewart also led the group in an intense brainstorming meeting on ways that Beaches can better appeal to the tween and teen crowd. One of the major insights was the overwhelming interest in the trend of voluntourism, following the launch of the new program, Island Impact.

Facilitated through Island Routes Caribbean Adventures, Island Impact gives full time students the opportunity to earn up to 10 community service hours while vacationing at any Beaches Resorts in Jamaica and Turks & Caicos. TAP members began their visit “Packing for a Purpose,” and each filled and traveled with a backpack full of school supplies such as pens, pencils and colored paper for Ianthe Pratt Primary, a local Providenciales school for children ages 5 to 12 years.

“We had an amazing week learning what makes Beaches Resorts such a great place for teens to vacation, and of all the things we did – Island Impact with the Sandals Foundation will always be one of my greatest memories,” said Beaches TAP member and star of ABC’s hit comedy Black-ish, Marcus Scribner.

Designed as a forum for influential teen members to provide real insight into making the Beaches Resorts Luxury Included® experience even better, the new Teen Advisory Panel met for the first time at Beaches Turks & Caicos earlier this week.  Click HERE to see how TAP members spent their time!
