Nine-year-old Daniel Spargo from Alberta, Canada is different from most kids his age. For his birthday this year he didn’t ask for toys to share with his third grade classmates, but rather money he could use to make a difference. Initially, he wasn’t certain where exactly his donation would go, but a recent family vacation to Beaches Negril Resort & Spa inspired him to enhance a local classroom.
While in Negril, his family decided to take part in a Sandals Foundation Reading Road Trip. This special excursion offers guests a unique opportunity to visit local schools to engage with Caribbean children and volunteer their time by reading stories and playing educational games. Daniel went to Negril’s West End Early Childhood Institution and was inspired to use his birthday funds towards donating a brand new TV to the school. With $300 to donate, the Sandals Foundation teamed up with David to match his funds and purchase the gift on his behalf.
The Sandals Foundation was thrilled that Daniel was so inspired during his classroom visit to Negril and grateful for his contribution to the local school children. As the school’s very first TV, it is certain Daniel’s thoughtful gift will be celebrated for years to come. Reading Road Trips are offered at many Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts through Island Routes Caribbean Adventures for guests looking to volunteer as part of their Luxury Included® Vacation.
The Sandals Foundation is dedicated to improve the lives of people in the Caribbean and preserve its natural surroundings through projects in education, environment and community. 100% of your donations to the Sandals Foundation go directly to programs benefitting the Caribbean community.
