Newlyweds Can Give Back at Sandals Resorts & Beaches Resorts
March 15, 2013 - Sandals Resorts - Weddings & Honeymoons
Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts have unique way for couples to celebrate their weddings, honeymoons or WeddingMoons® while at the same time giving back to the Caribbean community. Recently the Boothbay Register Newspaper featured, a story about one of our of Sandals newlyweds, Valerie (Augustine) and Tabor Young of Boothbay Harbor who married at Sandals Grande Riviera and were a true inspiration to everyone. In lieu of gifts for their wedding, they requested that all their guests donate items they could bring down to the island to give to the community. Here is what the lovely couple had to say about their touching request:
When asked why she chose to have the items donated, the bride said, “We were sold on the idea, and my experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer and former teacher in Tonga convinced me even more”. She added, “We are excited to give back and would not have done it any other way. This gesture was needed and we hope it will help to spread love and education to more children.
Here are a few ways you lovebirds can give back to the Caribbean communities where any of the Sandals Resorts or Beaches Resorts are located:
- Pack for a Purpose: You can bring down up to 5lbs of needed school supplies that can be donated to the local schools.
- Buy a Brick: You can help improve the conditions of schools in the Caribbean by buying a brick for select schools.
- Reading Road Trip: The tour volunteer literacy enhancement program available to guests visiting all Sandals and Beaches Resorts is designed to help improve reading skills of children who attend some of the Sandals Foundation's adopted schools across the Caribbean. Join The Sandals Foundation on a Reading Road Trip and take a journey to help provide children with an opportunity to improve their listening, comprehension and reading skills
- Honeymoon Registry: The registry offers you an option of adding donations to the Sandals Foundation as an item in your registry. Your friends and family can donate on your behalf as a wedding gift to you and your loved one.
